Bangkok Real Estate Awards 2014
We’ve been looking forward to these awards on the anniversary of 11 September for some months now and the event held at the Conrad Hotel, All Seasons Place lived up to every expectation, with industry people securing awards for the hard work and commitment to professionalism they have put in over the last year.
It was a great opportunity for people and peers in the industry to rub shoulders and dress up in their smartest attire for an evening, as well as to recognize the up and coming talent mixing with the movers and shakers of Bangkok Property development and Thai real estate.
The purpose of the awards is to recognize quality in construction, design, architecture and development and rewarding the best housing developments, commercial buildings, condominiums, villas and hotels in Thailand.
The aim is to promote the highest standards of Thai Real Estate to the world and attract outside investment through showcasing the best in class. An international judging panel is chaired by Khun Sunchai Nuengsit who is the managing director of Build Smart Public Company Limited.
The judges had a formidable task paring down the thousands of entries in the Bangkok Real Estate Awards for the 22 Formal Recognitions on the night. There were hundreds of entries by a myriad of developers both local and international and these were whittled down to 40 or so entries for the short list about a month before the night of the awards.
Terry Blackburn the CEO of Ensign Media, the organizers of the award night, thanked the judges for their hard work, application and diligence in preparation for the big night.
The Big Winners
On the night it was the Bangkok Magnolia Quality Development Corporation who came off as the big winners. Owned by the Chearavanont Family of Thailand, Magnolia is in stellar company with the likes of CP Group, Chesters and Tesco Lotus in their business portfolio. Magnolia Quality Development took home three awards and were further recognized in two other categories.
Who Else Won?
Other winners included the Pace Development Corporation that specializes in high end real estate residential development. The corporation took home the much coveted Best Luxury Condominium Development in Bangkok award, despite facing stiff opposition from fellow development professionals against their Ritz-Carlton Residences in Mahanakhon (the Thai name for Bangkok). Pace are owned by the Techakraisiri family who founded the corporation only ten years ago in 2004.
What’s the Future?
As the industry evolves the purpose of the awards is to attract an ever increasing international coverage of this sector in the Thai commercial business world. The awards this year eschewed the selection of agency recognition prizes to concentrate on other fast developing sectors such as the evolution of regional developments such as the Eastern Seaboard, Bangkok, Phuket and border developments where construction of housing development is experience some of its most vibrant gain.
The cross border traffic at many locations of Thailand’s surrounding neighbors has encouraged a population growth and rise in incomes that have initiated a localized property boom.
