How to Choose the Best Real Estate Agent to Work With

If you have recently arrived in Thailand and wish to rent a condo or apartment, you may be looking for a real estate agent to help you with your search.

There are many real estate agents in Thailand, especially in the capital Bangkok, but how do you choose the best one to work with?

Below are some tips to help you in your search.

You can’t really go wrong with a good recommendation. If you have friends or family that have used a specific agent before and had a really good experience, then this is usually a good reason to get in contact with the agent yourself.

Let the agent know that you received a recommendation and they will usually do their best to ensure that all your requirements and expectations are met.

Check Out the Company Website

Ideally a quality real estate agent will have a quality website. The website should have a property portal which allows you to view a list of properties from an easy to use search function. Making an inquiry online when you see a property you like is a good start to getting to know an agent.

How quickly do they respond to your inquiry? Did they answer all your questions? Do they try to pressure you into meeting with them?

The above questions will help you to decide if they seem like a good agent or not.

Read Reviews

The internet is full of reviews for literally any product or service that you wish to try. Reading reviews allows you to see how other people have been dealt with by that particular estate agent.

There will always be some biased reviews but you can most often tell when a review is genuine or not.

If a company has too many bad reviews then it is best to move onto the next one!

Don’t Settle for Less than the Best

All real estate agents will be eager to get you on board with their company, regardless of whether they can accommodate all of your needs.

A good respectable agent will be very knowledgeable. Ensure you ask lots of questions and if they don’t know the answers, they may not be the right one for you.

They should have a great understanding of the local areas and know what amenities are within the area.

A good agent will also be happy to show you around any properties you have shown a liking too.

They can usually gain access to a property with a short amount of notice if the property is available to rent.

An agent should not become pushy and try and get you to sign on the dotted line at the first visit.

They should allow you time to think about your options and only provide you sound advice and information to help you with your decision.

Hopefully the above has been helpful to you and you now feel more confident with your property search.
